Wordpress…new to me

By Kevin Guthrie

I’m catching up with Web 2.0.  That’s right, it left me in the dust before I even knew it existed.  I do have a facebook account.  I log on, catch a few glimpses of someone else’s day, make a couple of posts, then log off.  However, I didn’t realize that facebook is just one aspect of Web 2.0.  Inez Mergel, a visiting instructor to my Leadership Management class talked about Web 2.0 and Wordpress last week.  That was during the time that I knew that I wanted to make a website, but I was plenty disgusted with trying to learn all the new CSS “stuff” on Dreamweaver.  I had just made a decision to drop Dreamweaver and look for something else.  A few days later, I had a new website!  Thanks Wordpress!

I think a website is a bit like having a child…they start so young until they finally grow up.  Some people wait until the “big day” to unveil their site.  However, I decided to go ahead and throw my site out onto the web and let people watch it grow from day one.  I’m sure there will be some missteps along the way,  but maybe you’ll get to see it grow.  After all, this is my first experience with Wordpress.

I’m catching up.  Keep checking up on aidMISSIONS for more….
