Kevin Guthrie is a US Army Chaplain on active duty. Kevin is currently a graduate student at Syracuse University in the Defense Comptrollership Program, a dual degree program with a MBA, Executive Masters of Public Administration and certificate studies in non-government organizations.
In Kevin’s previous assignment he was the Brigade Chaplain for 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, the premier conventional forces unit in the Army. He provided or supervised religious support for the 173rd, with soldiers garrisoned in two countries (Italy and Germany) and three different unit installations.
In his 23 years of military serivce, Kevin served in several units as battalion chaplain, company commander, and held battalion staff positions. His military expertise includes chaplaincy, engineer, air defense artillery, and enlisted service as a Cavalryman. He also has extensive experience working in country development in Afghanistan, planning and overseeing irrigation development projects worth $9 million.
Kevin’s pastoral experience is grounded in his 8 years of ministry in the local church setting. Additionally, Kevin pastored and co-pastored several congregations on military installations. While deployed to Afghanistan’s border wilderness region in Paktika Province, Kevin provided religious support to soldiers spread across an area the size of Delaware, performing 3-6 worship services per week.
Kevin lives with his wife and two children in the Syracuse, New York area.
